The book which was originally written thirty four years ago has, during the intervening period, been revised and reprinted several times. The authors now take great pleasure in presenting to readers the fourteenth thoroughly revised edition of the book. The opportunity presented for the preparation of this new edition has been utilized to thoroughly revise the subject matter in the light of numerous suggestions and comments received from users of the previous editions. The fourteenth edition of this book includes all basic features of the earlier editions and now covers most of the topics of Management Science. A significant feature of this edition is that the chapter on replacement problems has been re-written and the concept of effective replacement has been introduced for the first time. Also, chapters on Business Forecasting and Learning Curve Theory has been included in the revised edition of the book. Some other special features of the present edition are : Book covers the latest syllabus in Operations Research/Quantitative Techniques/Management Science of most of the Universities, Civil services examination and other professional examinations. Each chapter begins with a brief synopsis of the techniques discussed therein. Each chapter consists of sufficiently large number of solved problems mostly taken from recent examination papers of various universities. At the end of each chapter, unsolved problems followed by their answers are presented for self practice. At the end of each chapter “Multiple-choice” problems and “True/False” problems are presented. The revised edition of the book now includes more than 880 solved problems and more than 690 unsolved problems with answers togather with about 280 Multiple Choice problems along with 330 illustrative diagrams and 200 tables for recapitulation and better grasp over the subject.
