Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) i.e., alternating current transmission systems incorporating power electronic based system and other static controllers to enhance controllability and increase power transfer capability is a latest development in electrical power systems. This is an application of power electronics to power system.
FACTS is a core subject for undergraduate and postgraduate students in electrical engineering to touch the future trends in electrical power system. This book is primarily intended to serve as a textbook in accordance with the syllabus of Applications of Power Electronics in Power System offered by various universities in India as well as abroad.
The whole text has been divided into four chapters-Chapter 1, introduces the basic concept of FACTS and FACTS Controllers. Chapter 2, introduces the modelling of FACTS Controllers. Chapter 3, introduces the basic concept of harmonics, its analysis and modelling. Chapter 4, discusses the power quality problems, solutions and related national and international standards.
